The Amazon bestselling urban fantasy series continues! There’s a little bit of a shake up this time so read on to find out more.
The seventh Gallows Novel is a little different from the first six books in the series, and it really had to be this way because of all the plots that have been hatching over the length of the series.
So here’s the big reveal: Heaven & Hell focuses entirely on Sarah, Dev, Ray and those other pesky ex’s of Sarah’s, Ben and War. To tell the story properly, I couldn’t swing back and forth between all of that AND everything that was going on with Shaun, Andi, Teri and the Seelie Princess. So, book seven is Sarah’s and the forthcoming book eight, Reality Ruptured, is Shaun’s.
Note: If you’re a subscriber to my newsletter, you’ll get a chance to read a few chapters of Reality Ruptured during the summer, prior to its expected release in September.
Warning: If you don’t like spoilers and haven’t reached book six in the series yet, don’t move down past the cover image as the excerpt contains spoilers!
An Excerpt from
Heaven & Hell:
Sarah let Ray into the house, wondering what the hell she was even thinking.
He walked inside and frowned deeply. “We can talk in the kitchen.”
She rolled her eyes and followed him. “I want to make one thing clear before you start talking,” she said, watching him sit down at the table. She didn’t speak again until he was looking at her. “I’m with Dev now, and that’s not going to change.”
He grimaced, but he didn’t speak.
She sat after a few seconds of indecisive hovering. “So what exactly did you want to explain?”
He sighed. “I wanted to fit into your life, Sarah. I was afraid we’d break up if I didn’t become someone you could rely on. I know you work with guys that are stronger and faster and better than any human could ever hope to be.”
She rubbed at her head. “How many times did I tell you I didn’t want that?”
“You were lying,” he snapped. “We both know that. You would have ended up with Ben.”
She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She glowered at him. “Get out.”
“We can be together now,” he told her, his voice softening. “We can work.”
“Were you even listening to anything I said?” She stood up, dragging her chair back noisily. “I don’t want you anymore, Ray.”
“You’re angry. I can understand that, but please just…”
“I realised something while you were gone,” she said, cutting him off sharply. “I was never happy with you. We got forced together and it was never right. I couldn’t just say yes when you proposed. I had doubts the whole time we were together. Look what you did! How could I ever be with you?”
She was barely holding back tears of frustration. She forced herself to keep them in. He’d think he still had some kind of chance if she cried over him.
“I know you love me,” he said, certainty in his voice. “I know how good we could be together. I want to bond with you, like you did with War…”
“You’re crazy,” she told him, a single tear escaping and rolling down her cheek.
“You’re crying,” he said, softly. He got to his feet. “You love me, Sarah. I know you do.”
She looked into those bright green eyes she’d once loved. They looked darker than they had when he was human. He’d changed. He wasn’t the guy she’d fallen for. He’d never be that guy again.
“You’re dead, Ray. You’re a vampire. I hunt down your kind.”
